I have photographed over 140+ weddings in my time as a photographer. From the small intimate weddings all the way to the most high end NYC wedding days. With that said, I have encountered a lot of different situations. Photographing weddings is a passion of mine and I take great responsibility knowing that you have trusted me to capture the most intimate moments of your life. Here is a few recommendations that I will list below to help you to have a stress free Wedding Day!
Lets get started!
Most weddings will start with your photographer arriving at your getting ready location. Wherever that may be, plan ahead! Let your photographer know around what time you would like him/her to arrive and how long you will want them to stay there. Usually, your photographer will arrive as soon as the last bridesmaid will get her hair and make up done. That way, your photographer will have the chance to capture some final touches with you and the make up artist to get those beautiful shots. It takes around 1.5 hours to capture the” getting ready” from when your photographer arrives until you leave for the ceremony.
Theres always something bound to happen on your wedding day that you did not expect and that’s totally fine! As Lou Holtz once said, “its not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.” and try not to carry the entire load yourself! Get some really close people that you know will help take care of the small details so you don’t have to worry about it!
Can I just end this here? Doing a first look is great for many reasons. This by far is one of the most special moments of your wedding day. It’s the main reason your having a wedding; to get married to the person of your dreams! What better way to start off your time together than having a personal moment between the two of you gazing into each others eyes without the world to see? These moment are the most precious to brides and one you will cherish forever. After this moment we can get all of your pictures finished from: Bridal Party, Groomsmen, Wedding Party and your couples portraits. All that’s left is your family pictures. Once your ceremony is done you will have much more time to enjoy your day with your friends and family and the cocktail hour or the reception!
This is something that we might forget yet you put so much effort into. Thats your details! When your photographer arrives at your “getting ready” location make sure you have all your details set out so that you know they will capture it. A list of these things include: Rings, bouquet, wedding invitations, veil, dress, shoes, family heirlooms and more! Once you have your details picked out, set them away the day before the wedding in a place you won’t forget!
Remember, its your wedding day. Take time to enjoy it! You have planned for countless months and spent hours thinking of the perfect colors. When your day comes it represents a day between two people who decided to make vows to be with each other through thick and thin. This wedding day represents you and your love for each other. Take time for yourselves. Take a few moments on your wedding day to let it all soak in. 🙂
